Test drilling is done with either casing drilling or percussion drilling with rods. Sizes of the rods depend on the machinery used.

Soil samples are gathered from pipe diameters ranging from 20 mm to 400 mm. Under the groundwater level soil samples are diffused and may be absent of fine substances.

Most of the observation wells are plastic with diameter of 2". They can be used to extract suitable water samples and measure hydraulic conductivity layer-by-layer. Metallic observation wells are used for temporary locations where long term performance is not required.

Veli Reijonen Oy has constructed a wide range of drilling rigs. We improve the machinery constantly to keep it up the demands of our customers. Lightest drilling machine weighs only 30 kg and the heaviest 22 tons. Drilling output ranges from 1 kW to 250 kW. Usage of powerful machines enables us to conduct surveys in the most demanding soil conditions.
